God is Faithful

There’s something about the new-year that gets people excited and filled with hope. January 1st is symbolic of a new beginning and a chance to start over. Many people make new-year’s resolutions, reevaluate their life’s goals and step up their plans for the future.

A look back over the previous year to consider the areas of your life in which you’ve grown can be a humbling experience; maybe even discouraging. Especially if you’re not where you think you should be or even close to where you hoped to be. Self-reflection is necessary, but please be mindful of who you compare yourself to and what you consider to be “success”.

As Christians, we should look to God’s word as our guide for living and do the things that Jesus taught us to do. We’re equipped to do good works, even when the fruit of our labor isn’t easily seen. Oftentimes the ground we gain is internal before we begin to see external results. Ephesians 2:10; 2 Corinthians 3:18

Proverbs 21:2 says, “People may be right in their own eyes, but the Lord examines their heart.”

When making those resolutions and planning for the future, think big and use your spiritual eyes to discern and prioritize. Remember you are not alone in the process. The Lord is with you and eager to help you plan. In fact, He’s prepared good works for you to do in advance. Jeremiah 29:11

Don’t look back and be discouraged if you missed the mark or failed to accomplish a goal. Pray and “trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” Proverbs 3:5-6

The Holy Spirit may prompt you to go left, but you go right instead and your choice results in failure. Another trip around the mountain and through the desert has to happen sometimes, but remember God is faithful. 2 Timothy 2:13 says, “If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny who he is.”

Fail fast! Recover quickly; humble yourself and run to the father. He loves to spend time with you and is eager to listen and help you work things out. The Lord loves you and wants you to succeed! Romans 8:31-39

I hope and pray your new year is off to a great start.

Be blessed!
