“Let’s All Slow Down and Enjoy!”
My Mom used to say this at dinner time. Family dinners and holiday dinners. She had worked so hard, and then everyone seemed to eat fast and it was OVER. After all of that work!
So I recommend having fun, because there is nothing better for people in this world than to eat, drink, and enjoy life. That way they will experience some happiness along with all the hard work God gives them under the sun. Ecc. 8:15 NLT
This season can get very hectic. We all need to slow down and enjoy! I often find myself too focused on surviving the tension surrounding Christmas, rather than celebrating Jesus. It is way too easy to go into survival mode and to overlook and forget about the Christ of Christmas.
Choose to slow down and enjoy!
This season can cause us to focus on things that don’t matter eternally when we should enjoy the simple laughter with family, good food, time with God, God’s amazing goodness and provision, etc.
Seriously, I only have to look as far as the Christmas narrative to see celebration at work in the lives of people such as lowly shepherds. For them, there was something about Jesus that triggered absolute joy within their souls. They ran to see Him! When they left Jesus, they told everyone about Him and celebrated! They took notice, slowed down and enjoyed the Savior.
Do you need some reasons to slow down and celebrate Jesus?
We can celebrate because Jesus was born to save us. We can celebrate because we have God’s presence in our lives. We can celebrate because we have access to His power.
Slow Down and Enjoy this Season!
