The Best Advice Ever

One of my favorite scriptures in the bible is Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”

I love that scripture. I memorized it and it comes to my mind often, especially when I experience fear or doubt. I mediate on it and I speak it out loud as I work through my emotions and manage how I respond to circumstances going on around me. I’m comforted and encouraged by those words, and filled with confidence when I pray.

Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.”

The best advice I’ve ever been given, and it has been given many times by many different people, was to read the bible. Reading scripture is one of several ways to get to know the lord better and to develop a deeper relationship with him. God speaks to us through his word. He not only knows what’s hidden inside of us, but he cares!

Do you have a bible scripture that you’re passionate about? What is it and why? Has the lord spoken to you through his word? If so, share your experience. Tell someone how reading the bible has helped you. If they don’t already read on a regular basis, maybe your experience may encourage them to finally start.

~Bless you today and always.

  1. I think consistent Bible reading is one of the main things that has kept me going all these years!!

  2. One of my fave scriptures is Psalm 139. It says “You have searched me & known me You know when I sit & when I rise…You are acquainted with all my ways.” The whole Psalm speaks of Him intimately knowing & caring for us. The first time I read it I was a young Christian seeking God. I went to a church & it was closed so I sat on the steps & there was the scripture “I know your downsitting & uprising…”

  3. Oh let me count the ways that bible reading has helped me throughout the years! It is about connection and His word coming alive, which is why my favorite verse is Gal 2:20 – I have been crucified with Christ & I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. This comes from time of being a baby Christian coming to maturity and in the surrender.
