A Letter to My New Christian Self

Some days we forget who we are and whose we are.  We get wrapped up in what other people think of us, and we forget just how special we truly are.  It’s on days like this that I like to remind myself that I am the daughter of the King.  One cool activity that I encourage you to try when you feel this way is to write a letter to your new Christian self.   It allows you to put down on paper how God sees you. It is a great activity for several different reasons. First it forces you to see yourself the way God sees you.  It may also  require you to do some “research” in  his Word. Once you are finished you have something tangible you can look back on when you find yourself forgetful or when you find yourself under spiritual attack from the enemy.  Sometimes the enemy likes to whisper to us in our heart of hearts lies about who we are.  This letter that you have written can be used to fight against those lies.  What I would do in this situation is then read this letter aloud.  Through that activity, we validate again who we are in Christ and come against all schemes of the enemy. Here is my sample:

Dearest Jessica:

I have called you by name into a perfect relationship with me.  You are made in my very image.  I have breathed my spirit of life into you. You are chosen, worthy, and a daughter of the King of Kings.  I sent my very son to die on the cross in your place. You are fully redeemed because of His great love for you.  I was there when the Holy Spirit began living in your heart.  I lovingly remember this special 8 year old, kneeling by her grandmother’s bed and asking for Jesus to live in her heart.  I was so proud.  Because of this we have relationship together. Father, Spirit, Son.  You have hope when all hope is lost.  You have purpose when life seems purposeless. You are covered with a hedge of protection, and I guard your coming and going each and every day.  You will live forever in perfect unity with me. Your eternity is secure and your future is so good, it beyond anything you can imagine.  As I have said in my Word to you ” no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and  no human mind has conceived” — the things God has prepared for those who love him.” Rest in me.

Love,

God your father

Remember how special you are to your Father.

Be Blessed,

Jessica

  1. Wonderful idea! It is so easy to forget when the world we live in beats you down. We are children of a King and He is always loves each of us.

  2. This sounds like a really good spiritual exercise, especially when feeling a bit down or doubtful
