Be Who God Made You to Be!

How did God create you?

Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous–how well I know it. –Psalm 139:14 (NLT)

I am more of a morning person than a night person!

I don’t think that is a cool thing to admit. I wish I were cool. But, alas, I am not one of those women who set fashion trends or stay up late sitting in cool coffee bars.

However, the best thing to do is like and embrace the way God has made us!

Too many of us listen to the stories of other peoples and it triggers our own feelings of inferiority. (“I wish,” “I should have,” and “If only.”)

We need to become comfortable with our own wiring…especially as we grow older…we need to become more of who God made us to be!

I wish someone had told me earlier in life that it was okay to be myself, the person who God has made me. Sure, everyone has areas in life where we should make a shift in behavior, where we can change poor habits with positive results.

When it comes to how God has wired you in basic ways: introvert/extravert, short/tall, small/large, bubbly/reserved, funny/serious, morning person/night person, little sleep/lots of sleep, it just doesn’t work to invest years of time and energy trying to become someone God did not create you to be.

I wish someone had given me the permission to be more like…well, me.

I am a last-born (so sometimes fun), fairly introverted, thinking, melancholy morning person.

Today, I’m happy to grant you this permission. Go ahead! Be You!

In what ways has God made you wonderfully complex or unique?

Blessings,

Thora

  1. I would love to be the type of woman who help others recover from sexual assult. As a survivor myself, I would love to see others heal, find value in themselves again and know how much God loves them. I would love to see them set free from their past. That would be such a joy.

  2. God constantly helps me love who I am in different ways–because I need His help w/many lingering insecurities. Worked in Jewish community for years & the older ladies were a blessing, so affirming to me. BTW–
I always thought morning people got more accomplished. Love Ps. 139!
