How Long To Wait

A couple of months ago I sent an SOS to God. I remember sitting in the bathroom and looking up at the ceiling and saying, “Lord, I really need your help”.

My weight has always fluctuated, even as a kid. In the chaos of my childhood I used food as a form of control. I always felt good when I ate yummy food. So it’s something I still struggle with.

After each of my 3 children I have gained 5 pounds. It may not seem like a lot but it has definitely made a difference to me.

Living in New York I always walked places and so my average daily activity was much higher than now. Since we’ve moved to suburban Arizona and I have had two more children my exercise level has gone down pretty low, which is strange cause it seems like I never sit down!

So a couple of months ago I sent an SOS to God “HELP!”

The frustrating thing is I really didn’t feel any difference in my attitude for a while. I wasn’t motivated. So back in April I told my hubby that for my birthday I wanted to join a gym with great childcare- and he found one!

I didn’t go for about a month- that was even more discouraging. Then one day I just went. I made an appointment with a trainer and went again the next day.  Now I feel motivated.

One thing I’ve noticed is when I ask the Lord for help generally when he answers it doesn’t look the way I think it will or come when I think it will come, but it does come, and he always answers. There are prayers I’ve prayed that have still not been answered but because I’ve seen how God has answered in the past I know that even though those prayers aren’t answered right now it doesn’t mean they won’t ever be answered it most likely means I just have to wait.

  1. Erica, I can relate. God is so good. “It doesn’t look the way I think it will, or come when I think it will come, but it does come, and he always answers.” Isn’t that the truth.

Blessings on your health and your family.

  2. Waiting expectantly…
Waiting can be such hard work.

I totally agree…the answers usually don’t come when I think or look like what I thought.
