Because He Lives

I love this time of year.  Spring.  New life.  Fresh air.  Beautiful weather.  Easter is just two weeks away.

I choose to look at the bright side because the world we currently live in is absolutely fallen and broken.  I see that everywhere and anytime I look at news headlines.  Many of my friends have suffered difficulties and personal loss in the last year.  I almost lost my husband to heart disease this past  September, but by the grace and mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, he is still here with us.

Going through the hard times is what helps us appreciate the good times.  And looking at the despair around us definitely helps me look to Christ and be ever so grateful for his sacrifice for our redemption.

One of my favorite songs is “Because He Lives,” by Matt Maher.  I know the original – I sang the hymn as a child.  I often hear Matt Maher’s version on the radio these days and every time, my heart just swells with love for my Savior.  No matter what happens, I have life because He lives!

The link to the lyrics is below. Please take a moment to read them and ponder the Amazing Grace our God freely gives us.

  1. I too love Spring and the Easter Season. I feel especially close to God during this time of the year. One of my favorite “Easter” songs is and old Vineyard song called “At the Cross”.

    I Know a place
    A wonderful place
    Where accused and condemned
    Find mercy and grace
Where the wrongs we have done
And the wrong done to us
    Were nailed there with Him
    There at the cross

    At the cross,
    He died for our sin
    At the cross
    He gave us life again!

  2. I also love ‘At the Cross’
The church I grew up in always sang,
‘Praise God from whom all blessings flow …’
    Thora

  3. I’ll always remember at the cross. It was a couple years ago during a Wednesday Woman’s Evening Gathering.
We wrote down what we wanted to be forgiven of or anything we wanted to be set free from.
We walked up, nailed our prayer request to the cross and gave it to our heavenly Father!
That instant I forgave myself, I was forgiven and I was set free:-)
I’ve learned; no matter what I go through or what mistakes I’ve made, I can write my request down as I spend time with GOD and hand it to him. I never search or go back to that paper/page again… This is how it is when we hand it to him… He sets us free
    Today,
Let’s all rejoice knowing we are forgiven and we have a cross and a GOD that loves us so much he wants us to give it to him:-)

Thanks everyone for everything you share that touches my heart so dearly!

    HE LIVES!
