God Will Equip Us

Have you ever felt the call of God on your life for a specific task and thought to yourself, “There is no way I could do that!”  You’re not alone.  Moses and Jonah’s reaction was very similar when God asked them to do things that seemed impossible. In my personal experience, God asked me to do something a few years ago and I thought…Me?  Really? But I don’t know anything about that or anyone who knows anything about that!”

What we learn from the lessons of others’ lives in the Bible is this:  God will equip each of us and give us the ability to do what He calls us to do.

In Exodus, Moses records the very specific instructions God gave the people for making the Tabernacle.  Just reading it makes me a little nervous about all the detail involved and the pressure one could feel at being given such a task.

True to God’s merciful and graceful character, the Bible records the fact that God does not ask us to do anything without His presence and help.

“Then the LORD said to Moses, “See, I have chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, ability and knowledge in all kinds of crafts – to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in all kinds of craftsmanship.  Moreover, I have appointed Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, to help him.  Also I have given skill to all the craftsmen to make everything I have commanded you…” Exodus 31:1-6.

What a comfort to know that when God calls one of His children to do something for Him, we have access to the Almighty God, Creator of the universe, who will give us everything we need to do it. When I doubted my ability to do what God had asked me to do a few years ago that was completely out of my comfort zone, I soon found him dropping the right resources into my lap!

Our Heavenly Father is forever faithful and His word is true – so we can count on it!

What a wonderful thing to be thankful for as we approach Thanksgiving.

Enjoy the holiday,

Melissa

  1. So right! Some of those resources are the gifts that the women God brings to serve with me have — the gifts that I don’t have. Together, we make things happen for the glory of God.

  2. Praise God! It’s amazing what God calls us to do and how he equips us. This is just what I needed to hear this morning.
