I mean a really truly bad day, where from the moment your eyes popped open in the morning until you lay your head to rest at night everything and anything that could go wrong went wrong?
I’ve had a few of those, and if you’re honest, so have you.
Days like those can really test not only your sanity, but your faith, as you struggle to keep your head above water. It’s days like those that make you long for a nice hole to crawl into, somewhere safe where you don’t have to face the trials and temptations that are surrounding you, where you can escape those perpetually cheerful people who make it their goal to ‘lift your spirit’, where you can scream and yell and throw as big of a tantrum as you want to without fear of either hurting someone or hurting yourself.
Days like those can make you feel as though you’ve failed as a Christian, as you struggle to keep your heart focused on God even when your world is falling down around you. The way that you react to your circumstances can, let’s face it, be less Christ-like than what it should be. In fact, on days like those, it’s often hard to even see Jesus in your life much less anything resembling the loving Christian you claim to be. And that can cause your day to spin even further away from you.
Can I just take a moment to let you know that you’re not alone? Really. You’re not. God is there with you, even on your bad days. He knows your heart, He sees the pain your facing, He understands how hard it can be on days like those.
And He loves you anyway.
So take heart, dear friends, when you’re facing one of those terrible days. The Bible says in Isaiah 41:10…
“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
